Newbie want's to say hi
by Adso injust wanted to say hi and thanks to everyone that has posted their stories and comments.
i was df'ed a few months ago now and reading this forum has helped out heaps.
based on that i wanted to contribute in the hope that my experiences resonate with someone and help with the healing proccess the way it's helped me.

We feel that way sometimes too. As many posters above have said all those friends you had before were probably not real friends, they were people you went to church with. I also agree with Jeff, most of us can count our real friends on one hand. We have a few friends that came out after us. My husband has his own small business so he really doesn't have co workers. But I have some workmates that we have become close to. We have some "worldly " relatives that have been friendly but you can't just bust into their lives after holding them all at arms length for a lifetime.
If your kids play sports that may be a good opportunity. Could you try having the neighbors over for a burger and a drink?
I still get a little jealous when I hear people say "Oh geez we had five BBQs to go to this weekend", because we are grateful to be invited to one. I am hoping my children marry into big families so they can regain some of the family we have lost.
In the end any price is worth my freedom. To me the ultimate loneliness would have been to shun one of my children because he was having sex with their girlfriend or god forbid smokes a cigarette.

New here - hello!

my strange neighbor

the night before our trash pick up he send his sons out (20-30 year old) with their trash and fill up the neighbors trash cans.
i was speechless when my next door neighbor told me this.

My JW family used to do the same thing to us, I would mention to the pompas Elder that this was the same as stealing. They just would not stop and I was afraid that the garbage company ( small family local business) would notice. Now they quit, they don't even want their garbage to mingle with my apostate garbage! That is what I was going to finally do, ask the garbage company what to do, they might have some good ideas. NMKA

repentance is often not enough...
by oompa inyou may know i was recently dfd...i am a 4th gen...my two sons of course were 5th gen. the oldest a rebel from birth so of course dfd at 17 and he is now 24. my younger son now 22 has been the golden boy for the dubs.
pioneered out of hs for 4 years...was a miniserve all that time...and then the holy grail...a year at bethel...i mean the perfect dub!.
well shocker of shocks...he was dfd three weeks ago!!!

Oompa, I do think you have a unique opportunity handed to you with regards your poor son. My husband (faded) has been "working" on a young DF'ed member of our extended family. Unfortunately this poor kid was married so now he is divorced, being shunned by entire family and every friend he has ever known. He is constantly being warned about worldly associates. Get this, he isn't even free to remarry!!! So this kid is expected to have no social contact with anyone for as long as they say (already been going on 2yrs) and then go back and live alone the rest of his life. Really is laughable! I hope you can make some headway with your son, I guarantee he is seeing things from a different vantage point now, he probably just wants back as a reflex. Give him time and review the Steve Hassan books and follow the instructions, it works. NMKA
